When a team uses its starting pitcher and entire bullpen, the game calls in AAA pitching (listed as “AAA” in the box score) to finish the game. AAA pitching will allow 2 earned runs for every inning it is used.
Failure to properly manage the bullpen can ruin a team’s championship or playoff hopes.
