Setting Salary Caps

Along with a fixed number of players to draft at each position, each manager must also set a “cap” of how much money to spend at each position. Click Salary Caps on the Draft menu to change your salary cap settings.

Each team manages a payroll of $40,000k, which will be used to pay drafted players as well as free agents throughout the season.

With a minimum player salary of $100k, the BBM computer will determine which player to draft based on your draft list, each player’s salary, and the salary cap you have set.

By position and draft order, the minimum salary caps are:

$3,500K Starting Pitchers

$3,000K Outfield

$2,500K First Base

$2,500K Second Base

$2,500K Third Base

$2,500K Shortstop

$2,500K Catcher

$3,000K Relief Pitchers

Note: Some managers will set their Starting Pitchers salary cap to the minimum (aka “Low-balling the draft”) in an effort to be at or near the top of draft order for following rounds. They may continue this strategy as the rounds progress in order to draft a player they consider to be a “must-have”
