Game Resolution Formula

BBM's Game Resolution Formula (GRF) generates the final score for every game using real performances from the players. The GRF differs based on which Stadium Factor option is selected in the League Settings.

STADIUM FACTOR - NO STADIUM EFFECT

The team with the greater Raw Score wins the game (unless the Raw Scores are 100% tied, in which case the home team wins).

On Base = Hits + Walks + Hit By Pitch - Caught Stealing - Ground in to Double Play

Total Bases = Singles*1 + Doubles*2 + Triples*3 + Homeruns*4

Advancement of Runners = Total Bases + .26*(Walks + Hit By Pitch) + .52*(Stolen Bases + Sacrifices)

Plate Appearances = At Bats + Walks + Hit By Pitch + Sacrifices

Total Offense = ((On Base*Advancement of Runners)/Plate Appearances)-1

Total Defense = Earned Runs + (Errors*.6) + (Lineup Holes*.6)

Raw Score = (Total Offense + opponent's Total Defense)/ 2

STADIUM FACTOR - ALLOW TEAMS TO SELECT STADIUM EFFECT

The GRF for leagues using Stadium Effect differs in two ways from the formula above.

  1. The Total Offense calculation in the GRF is modified as follows:
    - Hitters park - Total Offense is multiplied by 1.2
    - Pitchers park - Total Offense is multiplied by 0.8
    - Neutral park - No change
  2. Close games (Raw Scores between the two teams is < 0.25) are determined by a tie-breaker.
    - Hitters Park - team with the higher Total Offense wins
    - Pitchers Park - team with the lower Total Defense wins
    - Neutral Park - If the rounded score is tied at 5 or more runs, the team with the higher Total Offense wins. If the rounded score is tied at fewer than 5 runs, the team with the lower.
